Kendriya Vidyalaya Ernakulam, Ernakulam District, Kerala State Is In The Civil Sector Was Opened In May 1965. The School Which Was Located Initially At Perumanoor In The Shipyard Campus Admitted Students In Standards VI To IX. With The Introduction Of Standards I To V And X In 1966, The Vidyalaya Became A Full Fledged Centre Of Learning.
The Year 1970 Was Memorable As The Vidyalaya Moved Into The Present Campus At Kadavanthara , Set Up In 7.5 Acres Plot. The New +2 Pattern Of Education Was Introduced In IX Standard From May 1975 And In The XI Standard From 1977. Construction Of Compound Wall, The Water Tank And The Staff Quarters By The KVS In 1988 Was The Next Step In The Growth Of The Vidyalaya. The Vidyalaya Was Declared As A Model School By The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan With Additional Infrastructural Facilities For Junior Science Laboratory And Computer Education In 2001-2002. The Vidyalaya Took Over The Newly Constructed Annexe Building On 07-12-01 With Facilities To Accommodate Three Classrooms,A Computer Lab, A Library, Three Full Fledged Laboratories And An Activity Room.
With The Addition Of A New Computer Lab In 2007, The Vidyalaya Is Well Equipped With Science, Mathematics And Computer Laboratories With Broadband Internet Connectivity And An Audio-Visual Room With LCD Projector, OHP Etc. The Foundation Stone For The Vidyalaya Annexe With Twelve Additional Classrooms Was Laid By The Commissioner, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Shri Ranglal Jamunda, IAS On 14th Feb 2007.
